The challenge
In 2011, a precast concrete manufacturer in Morocco commissioned Rometa to build a production line, in a 1,200 m² plant, with a very specific technical requirement: manufacturing 1-meter-long curbs with a longitudinal hole running through the entire piece.
Why this geometry. In this region, the client supplies hollow curbs for two main reasons: to reduce their weight for easier installation and to allow cables to pass through the interior.
The challenge. Designing a modern automatic vibro-compression process to replace the area's traditional manual manufacturing methods, drastically improving quality and production rate.
The Rometa solution
To meet this unusual requirement, Rometa's technical department developed a custom lance extraction system built into the mold.
Rometa 4050 machine. The line is based on the Machine 4050, with pallets measuring 1,200 x 1,200 mm.
Special lance system in the mold
1. Lance insertion. Before filling the mold, an automatic system inserts a lance inside each piece.
2. Filling and vibration.Concrete filling and the vibration process are then carried out.
3. Extraction.Just before demolding, the lances are automatically withdrawn, leaving the longitudinal void perfectly defined without affecting the structure of the piece.
Rest of the line. The mixing, curing and palletizing systems were configured to Rometa's high-efficiency standard.
The result
A special case that demonstrates Rometa's engineering adaptability in the face of complex challenges. The line produces 500 linear meters of curb per hour, and the client was able to supply high-quality curbs manufactured through modern high-speed vibrocompression, clearly standing out in their market compared to traditional manual methods.
