Frequently asked questions

Do you automate plants not built by Rometa?
Yes. We specialise in precast concrete plants, but we assess any industrial installation and propose the solution that best fits it.
How does the Rometa colour dosing unit work?
The operator sets the dose for each colour from the plant control cabin. A 30 kg weighing cart with three load cells travels under each pigment hopper and receives the set quantity through an electromagnetic feeder. When dosing is complete, it moves to the aggregate belt or skip and discharges the pigment there.
What is the Face-mix (double-layer) system for?
It lets you produce pieces with two types of aggregate: a coarser one underneath and a finer or pigmented one on the visible face, cutting colourant cost by up to 70% since the whole piece doesn't need colouring. Machine output drops by 25% compared with standard mode, since filling happens twice (two mixes), but the pigment savings offset that capacity loss on decorative pieces.
What does the Color-mix system guarantee for coloured pieces?
Precise, consistent colour reproduction on every cycle, thanks to automatic pigment agitation and a cleaning system that minimises production stoppages. It's compatible with Rometa's aggregate, additive, cement and concrete dosing systems, and allows colour-gradient effects.
Why are pallets important in a precast production line?
They sit between the mould and the vibrating table and transmit vibration to the piece with maximum efficiency. Rometa recommends wood or synthetic-material pallets for correct manufacturing and production of precast pieces.
How much can Rometa dryers reduce curing time?
Up to 40%, thanks to precise temperature and humidity control during curing before palletising, which also ensures uniform mechanical strength. They fully integrate into continuous production lines for blocks, pavers and other pieces.
How many colours can it dose and what is its capacity?
It is supplied in sets of one, two, three or four colours, with an airtight 0.5 m³ hopper for each pigment. Weighing is done in a 30 kg cart fitted with three load cells.
How long will my plant be stopped?
It depends on the installation. We test the panel and software in our workshop before working on site, so plant downtime is kept to a minimum and scheduled with you.
How does the colour dosing unit prevent pigment dust?
The hoppers are airtight, the electromagnetic feeder discharges through an enclosed chute, and the 80 × 80 mm outlet has a pneumatic closure that keeps it shut while the unit is idle.
What if I don't have schematics of the current installation?
This is common in older plants. During the audit we gather the information needed and, at the end of the project, we hand over complete, up-to-date documentation.
Which PLC brand do you use?
Whichever the customer prefers. We adapt the project to your standards and to the equipment your maintenance team already knows.
What does connecting to Rometa Connect provide?
You see the whole plant in 2D and 3D with the status of each zone, alarms and production in real time. The logged data also lets you diagnose faults and plan maintenance before breakdowns occur.
