What are rice blocks?
Rice blocks are an innovative and eco-friendly alternative to traditional building materials. They are made from rice and a cement-and-water-based binder, forming a lightweight, breathable building material with high insulating power.
How are rice blocks made?
The production process is simple, natural, and efficient:
- Rice husk: a by-product of rice cultivation, supplied in big bags or compact blocks.
- Mixing the ingredients: cement and water are mixed until a homogeneous texture is obtained.
- Molding and curing: the blocks dry naturally; during this process, the cement hardens by reacting with CO2 in the air, in a process called carbonation.
