What are hemp blocks?
Hemp blocks are an innovative, eco-friendly alternative to traditional building materials. They are made from hemp with a lime-and-water-based binder, forming a lightweight, breathable building material with high insulating power.
How are hemp blocks made?
The production process is simple, natural and efficient:
- Hemp cutting: the core of the hemp stalk is separated and cut to the required dimensions.
- Mixing ingredients: lime and water are mixed until a homogeneous texture is obtained.
- Moulding and curing: the blocks dry naturally. During this process, the lime hardens by reacting with CO2 in the air, in a process called carbonation.
